A coyote warning is in effect for Valleyview Nature Park — keep dogs leashed and avoid the trails at dawn and dusk. The city issued the caution after reports of aggressive coyote behaviour in the park, noting that spring denning season makes them more likely to go after dogs. (Castanet)

Both of Kamloops’s 2026 homicide investigations are still active — and police aren’t saying much. The cases are priorities for the serious crimes unit, but Mounties won’t say whether suspects have been identified in either the January death of Ash Zafar or the March shooting of Emmanuel Brooks outside the Seymour Street 7-Eleven. A driver who doubled the speed limit on Tranquille Road while being chased by Kamloops RCMP has been fined $2,500. Cole Luke Tourand, 30, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and three counts of driving while prohibited after a July 2025 pursuit. The judge warned jail could be next. (Castanet)

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District says a failed Search and Rescue facility vote won’t automatically trigger a referendum this fall.
