Summer hotel bookings in Kamloops are pacing ahead of last year. Tourism Kamloops says early signals point to a strong domestic season, with some peak weekends already close to sold out. Kamloops welcomed nearly 2 million visitors in 2025, who spent a combined $316 million locally. (Castanet)

Kamloops retiree Carla Krens, 79, has received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteering. The former accountant, honoured for three decades of charitable work, was presented the medal by MP Mel Arnold at a ceremony at Berwick on the Park. “The payment of volunteering is the happy faces you get back,” she said. Council will vote Tue Apr 21 on a three-year extension to the Pathways shelter. City staff recommend approving the temporary use permit application from BC Housing, which would keep the 44-bed shelter at 142 Tranquille Road open until July 26, 2029. (CFJC Today)

BDO Canada has issued a clean audit opinion on the City’s 2025 financials. BDO Canada’s Mario Piroddi told council the province applies “rigorous” standards for approving long-term municipal debt, and noted capital spending is “starting to pick up steam” with borrowing planned for the future Dufferin multiplex arena.
