Kamloops council heard a sharp divide over the Pathways shelter extension on Tuesday. RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley urged council to view the 44-bed shelter at 142 Tranquille Road as part of a broader public safety strategy, while several nearby business owners described ongoing impacts from drug use and violent behaviour outside their doors. The shelter, funded by BC Housing and operated by ASK Wellness Society, is seeking approval to continue operating until 2029. (Radio NL)
A Kamloops cat has been reunited with his family after 59 days and 25 km on the run. The reunion happened thanks to a BC Pet Registry microchip. The BC SPCA notes that about 85 per cent of lost cats and 40 per cent of lost dogs it received in 2025 were not reunited with owners because they lacked permanent identification, or because the registered contact information wasn’t up to date.
