A white SUV crashed into two homes on Arbutus Street Saturday and the driver ran. RCMP were called just before noon on April 25 to the 600-block of Arbutus Street, where they found the vehicle on its side wedged between two damaged houses. A female passenger was still inside; the driver had fled westbound on foot. Witnesses described him as a white man, about 40, 5’10” and 190 lbs, with balding hair, wearing a green shirt and black pants. RCMP are asking anyone with information to come forward. (CFJC Today)

The Kamloops Rotary Spring Food Drive wrapped up with 60,000 pounds of donations. The 36th annual drive, run in support of the Kamloops Food Bank, tied for the fifth-highest total in the event’s history. Last year set the record at 75,000 lbs. “That will go a very long way in helping us create a hunger-free community,” the Food Bank said. (CFJC Today)

Committee of the Whole will debate a tax break for development around Kamloops Airport on Tuesday, April 28. Three councillors — Bill Sarai, Katie Neustaeter, and Stephen Karpuk — are proposing an expanded Revitalization Tax Exemption covering lands at Fulton Field. The break would apply only to increased value from improvements, not to the underlying land, so the city would still collect base taxes. (CFJC Today)

The RCMP Musical Ride is coming to Barriere on August 21.
