Someone stole a BC Transit bus from the Lansdowne Exchange on Saturday — with a passenger still on board — and crashed it into another vehicle downtown. Lansdowne Street was closed for more than two hours in the 500-block; no injuries were reported. BC Transit confirmed the theft and said it is cooperating with RCMP. (Castanet)
A Kamloops 12-year-old swam faster than the existing Canadian age-group record — but a mixed-gender heat technicality could stop it from counting. Mia Wittal swam a time Swimming Canada acknowledges as the fastest of the 2026 season, and faster than the existing national age-group record, but the governing body says records can’t be set in heats with mixed genders. A fire early Monday, April 27 damaged two mobile homes on Larkspur Street and sent one resident to hospital. Kamloops Fire Rescue platoon chief Jim Gorman said crews arrived to find one unit fully involved, two vehicles burning, and a neighbouring trailer with major exterior damage. Everyone got out; the hospitalized resident was taken to RIH for evaluation. (Castanet)
Glenn Grant, the BC Wildlife Park’s executive director for nearly 30 years, is retiring at the end of May. The Kamloops Wildlife Park Society’s board announced his departure Monday. Grant joined the park in 1997 and has served as executive director since 2007. (CFJC Today)
