A court hearing is underway over costs tied to the mayor’s failed defamation suit. Coun. Katie Neustaeter is seeking costs plus $10,000 in damages from Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson after his lawsuit against her was dismissed in January by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Jacqueline Hughes. (Castanet)
Council has approved a 30-unit housing project for women and families on the North Shore. The city entered into a housing agreement after an 8-0 vote Tuesday; the seven-storey building will be owned by the provincial rental housing corporation and operated by the Elizabeth Fry Society. (CFJC Today)

Kamloops RCMP say the city is now at three homicides this year. Police were called to a shooting in the 200 block of Columbia Street early Tuesday, May 5; they say it appears targeted and are asking anyone who was in the area between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. to contact them. (CBC)
