A court hearing is underway over costs tied to the mayor’s failed defamation suit. Coun. Katie Neustaeter is seeking costs plus $10,000 in damages from Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson after his lawsuit against her was dismissed in January by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Jacqueline Hughes. (Castanet)

Council has approved a 30-unit housing project for women and families on the North Shore. Kamloops RCMP say the city is now at three homicides this year. Police were called to a shooting in the 200 block of Columbia Street early Tuesday, May 5; they say it appears targeted and are asking anyone who was in the area between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. to contact them. (CBC)
