A 40-year-old cold case now has a Kamloops name attached, Barnhartvale is still waiting on water answers, and two convenience stores are heading for closure.

A Kamloops name is now tied to a 40-year-old homicide in Washington. CBC reports Wenatchee police believe Henry Leland killed Carol Traicoff in 1986; Leland later lived on Kamloops streets, died in 2007 and had Henry Leland House named after him. (CBC)

Barnhartvale’s next water answer is expected Friday. Initial contaminant test results are expected May 22, while the neighbourhood remains under a do-not-consume order. A potable-water truck is set up from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 1210 Eliza Rd. near the Barnhartvale landfill. (Castanet)

The Seymour Street and Summit Drive 7-Elevens are closing May 26. Castanet reports the chain will keep operating Kamloops stores in North Kamloops, Aberdeen and Brocklehurst as its parent company shutters more than 600 locations across North America. (Castanet)

The latest Kamloops drug alert is unusually specific. Interior Health says purple or pink chunks and pebbles sold as down, dope, tranq or fentanyl tested at 29 per cent fentanyl and 16 per cent medetomidine. The alert remains in effect until May 26. (Radio NL)
