Kamloops council is still pressing the province for clearer answers on local gas prices. Energy Minister Adrian Dix told the city B.C. does not regulate retail fuel prices, after council asked why Kamloops often pays more than Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton despite hosting a major fuel distribution terminal. Coun. Bill Sarai told Radio NL the response was disappointing, and Dix suggested council contact the BC Utilities Commission for more information on fuel market conditions. (Radio NL)
A two-building rental project in the Columbia Precinct is coming back to council on Tuesday, June 9. The BC Builds proposal would start with a six-storey, 126-unit building at 535 Columbia St., with 26 units secured below market and the rest aimed at low- and moderate-income renters. Council will be asked to approve a housing agreement tied to reduced parking requirements and a 10-year revitalization tax exemption. (Castanet)
The Tranquille Road sewer project is pushing its detour farther east. The city says the construction zone now extends just past Southill Street as crews continue the third phase of the sanitary main and road enhancement project, with motorists and transit detoured via Desmond Street and Gellrich Avenue. Repeat false alarms could soon cost Kamloops businesses more. Council voted 7-1 at committee of the whole to endorse security alarm bylaw changes aimed at reducing more than $61,000 in unnecessary policing costs. The proposed fees would apply to repeated commercial burglary, hold-up and residential panic false alarms, with final approval still to come. (Castanet)
Police are still looking for information after a teenager was pepper-sprayed during a North Shore robbery. Kamloops RCMP say the youth was treated by paramedics after witnesses confronted a suspect in the 700-block of Cumberland Avenue on May 27 and recovered stolen property left behind. (Castanet)

🚧 Highway 1 bridge work continues between Pacific Way and Summit Drive. DriveBC says traffic is reduced to one lane each way in the westbound lanes until Monday, June 15, with overnight detours from 10:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. and a 50 km/h speed limit through the work zone. (DriveBC)
