The former Northbridge Hotel site is becoming 85 rental homes. Construction is underway at 377 Tranquille Rd. on the Kamloops Community Land Trust’s first major project, with the six-storey building about three weeks ahead of schedule and move-ins expected in November 2027. (CFJC Today)

Council has approved the first major build on the Columbia Precinct lands. The 126-unit BC Builds project at 535 Columbia St. includes 26 below-market units, fewer parking stalls under the housing agreement and eligibility for a revitalization tax exemption. (CFJC Today)

Kamloops is sending far less household waste to landfill. A council report says residential curbside diversion has climbed from about 18% in 2021 to nearly 50% in 2025, driven largely by the organics collection program introduced in 2023. (Radio NL)

A suspicious Mission Flats grass fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes. Kamloops Fire Rescue responded around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, and RCMP later said the fire appeared human-caused but there was no evidence at that point that it was intentionally set. (Castanet)

🚧 Highway 1 bridge work continues between Pacific Way and Summit Drive. DriveBC says traffic is reduced to one lane each way in the westbound lanes until Monday, June 15, with overnight detours from 10:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. and a 50 km/h speed limit through the work zone. (DriveBC)
