Kenna Village is moving ahead after a unanimous council vote. Kamloops council approved the rezoning and OCP changes for a scaled-back 900-home development near Kenna Cartwright Park after a public hearing that ran more than three hours. The plan now focuses on mixed-use housing and light industrial space, with debate also touching on possible future AI data centre interest on the site. (Castanet)

Sun Rivers residents want answers on stalled Highway 5/Shuswap Road upgrades. The Community of Sun Rivers Owners’ Association says it has not had an update from the developer since November, while traffic backups have grown since the Red Bridge loss and nearby development. The board represents about 1,000 homes and says the uncertainty is affecting the neighbourhood’s reputation and economic well-being. (Castanet)

West-side gardeners have a new Japanese beetle containment zone to watch. Officials have expanded restrictions after hundreds of the invasive beetles were found last year. Free FIFA World Cup watch parties start June 11 at Riverside Park. The City says all 104 matches will be shown on a large screen at the Rotary Bandshell through the July 19 final, with community activation days adding food trucks, live music, giveaways and football-themed activities. 🚨 Safety

RCMP are investigating after a senior was assaulted at Lansdowne Transit Exchange. Police say a man in his 70s was punched while waiting for a bus on the morning of June 5, and a friend told Castanet the 75-year-old victim required surgery.
