A new 98-unit rental building is opening on the North Shore. Cedar Coast and Orion Construction held a grand opening for Amadeus, a six-storey purpose-built rental at 156 Tranquille Rd. First residents are expected July 1, with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites plus amenities including a rooftop fitness area, outdoor patio, sauna, bike storage and a ground-floor commercial unit. A Red Bridge mural is now up downtown. The Wren reports the new airbrushed mural on the south side of the Falloway-Ellis building at 220 Fourth Ave. pays tribute to the former Red Bridge, which connected Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and downtown Kamloops before it was destroyed by fire. The project was commissioned by Kelson Group and painted by a four-person team led by Kamloops artist Vaughn Warren and muralist Paul Archer. (The Wren)
A proposed sustainable aviation fuel plant on Tk’emlúps land is still in regulatory review. Tk’emlúps economic development lead Andrew Gottfriedsen told CFJC the project is being reviewed by provincial and federal regulators. Azure has described the proposal as a facility that could produce about 20,000 barrels of mostly sustainable aviation fuel per day, with Tk’emlúps to make a final investment decision after the process is complete. Rural Thompson-Okanagan communities are getting a fibre internet expansion. CFJC reports the province and federal government are putting $63 million toward Telus fibre service for 3,959 households in 50 rural communities, with officials framing high-speed internet as essential infrastructure for work, school, health care and local business. Kamloops Museum and Archives opens its KSO 50th anniversary exhibit Friday. The City says ENCORE! The KSO at 50 will feature stories, artifacts and interactive elements about the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra’s role in local arts and culture. The free opening reception runs 5:00–7:00 p.m. June 12 at the museum, with light refreshments, a performance and speeches at 5:30 p.m. (City of Kamloops)

Police are trying to identify a man accused of an indecent act in a Kamloops thrift store. Kamloops RCMP say a woman shopping in a store in the 900-block of Columbia Street West saw a man in the same aisle allegedly masturbating shortly before 11:30 a.m. on May 29. Police say the suspect fled, and anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000. (Castanet)
