Residents near Stump Lake have been given the all-clear after the Kullagh Creek wildfire was downgraded. Castanet reports the remaining evacuation alerts were lifted Thursday after the fire was contained at 141 hectares. BC Wildfire Service said 26 firefighters remained on scene for mop-up work. Merritt’s emergency room is set for a 25-hour closure starting Friday morning. Kamloops RCMP are asking for help identifying a suspect after an assault at Lansdowne Bus Exchange. Castanet reports police say a man in his 70s was seriously injured after being struck in the face while waiting for a bus on June 5.
