Evacuation orders have expanded as the Saw Creek wildfire burns near Lytton. Castanet reports the fire was estimated at 600 hectares Saturday evening, with about 130 firefighting personnel assigned and evacuation orders remaining in effect for Klahkamich IR 17 and Kitzowitz IR 20. Kamloops staff are proposing more limits on where homeless encampments can be set up on public land. Castanet reports council will consider Parks and Public Lands Bylaw changes Tuesday that would add buffers around playgrounds, water parks, civic facilities and other areas, with staff citing public safety, infrastructure protection and wildfire risk.
