Only a few dozen endangered badgers may be left around Kamloops. Castanet reports a ministry-led Badger Connectivity Initiative was trapping and tracking animals in Rayleigh on Tuesday, June 23, with road deaths identified as the biggest threat to a local population estimated at about 20 to 30 mature badgers. Kamloopa Powwow organizers are preparing for crowds of up to 30,000 from Friday, June 26, through Sunday, June 28. Kamloops council advanced new limits on where overnight sheltering can happen. One home has been confirmed destroyed by the Saw Creek wildfire near Lytton.
