TRU’s international student services team has received a provincial award. Castanet reports Thompson Rivers University’s team won the BC Council for International Education’s Excellence in International Student Support award, recognizing its immigration advising and student-centred support work. TRU has landed on global sustainability impact rankings for the first time. Castanet reports the university placed 81st globally and eighth in Canada for climate action in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, with additional marks for affordable clean energy, partnerships and institutional governance. The Blazers’ 2026-27 home schedule is out. KamloopsBCNow reports the regular season starts Sept. 19 at Sandman Centre, with 23 Friday or Saturday games, three afternoon games and eight Wednesday games on the 68-game slate. (KamloopsBCNow)

🏛️ City Hall

Build Kamloops now has a charitable-donation path through the BC Interior Community Foundation. The City says the foundation will receive donations designated for Build Kamloops and issue eligible tax receipts, with contributions directed toward project costs such as the Kamloops Centre for the Arts and arena multiplex. 🚨 Safety

Kamloops RCMP are still looking for one suspect after an ATM theft from a Westsyde pub. Radio NL reports police recovered a stolen truck and ATM, arrested one person, and said a second suspect swam across the North Thompson River near the CN rail yard while trying to evade officers. (Radio NL)

🛣️ Roads & Weather

🚧 Westsyde Road has bridge construction between Clark Road and Jamieson Creek Forest Service Road. DriveBC says a detour over a temporary bridge is in effect, with single-lane alternating traffic, minor delays and a 4.8-metre height clearance through the detour.

🚜 Highway 1 mowing is scheduled east of Kamloops toward Chase. DriveBC lists weekday work between Old Ferry Road and Des Fosses Road until Friday, July 3, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with slow-moving vehicles and equipment on the corridor.

🌦️ Thursday is expected to bring a chance of showers with a high near 24°C, followed by another chance of showers Thursday night around 13°C. Friday looks sunny near 28°C, the AQHI is low, and there are no weather warnings in the fresh staging.
