🏛️ What Changed
Kamloops has adopted a new false-alarm bylaw that takes effect September 1. RCMP went to 840 alarm calls in 2025. The city says about 68 per cent were false, taking an estimated 590 hours of police time and costing more than $61,000. The new rules raise fees for repeat false alarms, add charges when officers must wait for a responsible contact, introduce fines and create an appeal process. Proven crimes and real emergencies will not count as false alarms. (City of Kamloops)
