The Paramount’s original 1955 boiler is finally getting replaced. A $250,000 provincial gaming grant will pay for a modern HVAC system. Kamloops Film Society executive director Colette Abbott said the aging unit has required years of repairs, and a winter failure could force the theatre to close. (Castanet)

Sprinklers go quiet more often starting Monday. The city is moving to Drought Level 4 water restrictions effective July 20 in response to the provincial drought rating for the South Thompson River. Lawn watering with a sprinkler or by hand drops to one day a week. (City of Kamloops)
🚨 Safety
Two small wildfires were discovered west of Kamloops on Friday. One fire between Kamloops and Cache Creek was being held by Friday afternoon, while the other remained out of control and spot-sized. Four firefighters and a helicopter were responding. (Castanet)
Highway 1 has reopened between Boston Bar and Lytton with restrictions near the Brunswick Complex. One lane is open in each direction, the speed limit is 60 km/h and stopping is prohibited in the wildfire zone. The complex has grown beyond 20,000 hectares, and smoke is expected to persist in Kamloops through Saturday afternoon. (CFJC Today)

McGill Road lane closures begin Monday for a water-main upgrade near TRU. Eastbound lanes between Dalhousie Drive and University Drive will close, with one eastbound lane shifted beside the work zone.
