A Kamloops entrepreneur is building a consulting business out of navigating cultural differences at work. Ruhann Fourie founded Cross Cultûra with support from Venture Kamloops’ VK Accelerate program, offering cultural assessments, executive coaching and cross-cultural training to teams. (Castanet)

Merritt’s emergency department reopened five hours earlier than expected Sunday. Interior Health secured last-minute coverage, shortening the Nicola Valley Hospital closure from a planned 13 hours to eight. It was Merritt’s second sudden ER closure in less than a week and the fifth this year. (CFJC Today)

A man who sexually assaulted a younger coworker at a Kamloops workplace received two years of probation. The man, who cannot be named because of a publication ban protecting the victim, received a conditional discharge and must stay away from her and attend counselling. (Castanet)


🏛️ What Changed

A joint fire hall and search-and-rescue headquarters in Rayleigh is moving from vote to blueprint. The TNRD board approved borrowing up to $6.3 million for the Devick Road facility after the alternative approval process passed; the City of Kamloops and TNRD now start designing the shared space, with shovels targeted for spring 2027. The Tin Cup Creek wildfire evacuation alert near South Green Lake has been lifted. The TNRD gave the all-clear Sunday morning for about 12 properties in Electoral Area E. An alert or order could be reinstated if conditions change. (Castanet)

B.C.’s police watchdog says its investigation into a May arrest at Valleyview Square is progressing. The Independent Investigations Office has obtained body-camera footage, other video and medical records after a woman was injured during an RCMP interaction. The investigation is ongoing, and the IIO has not alleged wrongdoing. (Castanet)
