The Kamloops Venom are Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League champions. The Venom came back from a 6-4 second-period deficit to beat the South Okanagan Reapers 11-7 in the final. Goaltender Corbin Flundra stopped 87 per cent of the shots he faced in the third period. (CFJC Today)

🚨 Safety

A new wildfire south of Boston Bar has closed a 41-kilometre stretch of Highway 1. The fire was estimated at 300 hectares Tuesday and was spreading quickly in strong winds. Anyone remaining in Boston Bar, North Bend or Canyon Alpine was ordered to leave, with an evacuee reception centre available at McArthur Island in Kamloops. (CFJC Today · Castanet)

Riverside Park is Kamloops’ only designated river swimming area. Lifeguards supervise the roped-off section from 1 to 5 p.m. daily, weather and smoke permitting. B.C. recorded 40 accidental drowning deaths between May 1 and July 16, up from 26 over the same period last year. (CFJC Today)
