Street disorder calls were down in Kamloops’ seven monitored corridors in the second quarter. City staff told a council committee Monday that overall RCMP calls in those corridors fell 10 per cent compared with the same quarter in 2025, while Criminal Code-related calls were down two per cent. 🏛️ What Changed
Kamloops’ fire chief says reservoir levels are a major reason behind drought restrictions. Ken Uzeloc told the Safety and Security Select Committee that even though the Thompson rivers feed the City’s system, water has to move through reservoirs first. A large fire can draw those reserves down quickly, especially if outdoor use is already high. (CFJC Today)
🚨 Safety
A small fire near Campbell Creek was in mop-up Monday evening after drawing aircraft and ground crews. BC Wildfire listed the fire south of Highway 1 near Dallas Road and the BC Wildlife Park at 2.55 hectares and being held. It was suspected to be human-caused, and the wildlife park closed early Monday while crews worked nearby. (Radio NL · Castanet)
The Pear Lake fire remained the main regional evacuation pressure point. The merged Pear Lake and Fiftynine Creek fire was listed at about 66,871 hectares, with 70 Mile House ordered to evacuate Monday and Clinton-area residents still waiting for safe damage assessments. Kamloops officials are asking residents to rely on official updates and avoid spreading rumours. (KamloopsBCNow · Castanet)
United Way BC has opened a province-wide wildfire appeal. The agency says donations will support displaced residents with urgent needs, including food, hygiene items, basic supplies and community recovery work. (CFJC Today)
