A new illuminated heart has created a Kamloops photo stop on Versatile Drive. The “Love the Loops” installation sits in the grassy area between Cascades Casino and Costco, positioned so the city and surrounding mountains appear inside the heart in photos. Some water and firefighting foam entered the South Thompson River during Wednesday’s fire at Emterra Environmental. The provincial spill report lists the material as firefighting runoff. A Ministry of Environment and Parks response officer attended the recycling facility, and the province says the fire is extinguished with no further updates anticipated. (KamloopsBCNow)

The area restriction around the Bald Range wildfire has been lifted. BC Wildfire Service says lower fire behaviour means crews no longer need to limit public access to work safely. The site remains active, however, and visitors should watch for unstable fire-damaged trees, hidden ash pits and other hazards. Smoke may also remain visible inside the burned perimeter for weeks. Kamloops RCMP have renewed their appeal for information about the death of Bradley Germann-Wilson. On Aug. 30, 2024, officers found him with serious injuries near the Yellowhead Highway and Paul Lake Road shortly before 7 a.m. He was taken to hospital and later died. Police suspect he was assaulted before he was located. Anyone with information or relevant dash-camera footage can call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-28673. (KamloopsBCNow)

City bylaw officials have yet to find the dogs involved in the Valleyview attack. The victim said one grabbed his left arm and a second bit his left leg. He ended up with about 10 stitches. Community Services says it is too early to determine what will happen once the dogs are located. (CFJC Today)
